The Braun family of farmers first put down roots in the village of Orschwihr, Alsace in 1593.
It wasn’t until 1960 that Camille Braun founded Domaine Camille Braun with his wife Marguerite and transformed the warm, limestone rich soils with his simple, light-footed approach to winemaking.
The Pfingsberg Grand Cru’s terroir is notable for its geology, orientation and slope. It reaches 350 meters high, and has warm, well-drained chalky sandstone and micaceous sandstone soils, loved by vines and sheep alike. The result is expressive wines with fresh, floral aromas, great balance and finesse.
Since 2005, their son Christophe and his wife Chantal have used sustainable methods to produce some of the finest wines from this famous region. The winery is certified organic and biodynamic, following the culture of the wine industry in the region.
Alsace has the most percentage of vineyards practicing organic and biodynamic agriculture in Europe. France’s Alsace region has long been a leader in organic and biodynamic viticulture, well before it became a “movement.”
